Default Section 1 margins outside print area

When I create a document say 3"x4" with say 2" margins all around and sent it to a printer that under printer properties has 8"x10" paper selected why do I get a "Section 1 margins outside print area". What is the definition of this error? No combination of margin settings or printer paper size setting gets rid of the error when I send the document to the printer..

Default Printing Error

I will try again on my "section 1 margins outside the print area" error question. The error message seems to occur based on which printer I send the document to without making any changes to the document itself. Where does the Word get the size of the paper in the printer info? From the print driver? Under printer properties I can choose paper size even different than page size chosen in Word for the document. Is Word comparing the two parameters? I have a printer that no matter what paper size the original doc is set to I always get the error everytime I send the document to it, But if I send the document say to an HP Laser on the network I never get the error. If I send the document to the printer I want I always get the error if I select "yes/continue" to override the error message it prints fine well within the document margins nothing looks wrong.

Out of 40 views but no replies is my question that strange?

Thanks
.

Hi Docman,

A document sized 3"x4" cannot have 2" margins all around. If you do that, the combined width of the margins equals the document width in one direction and exceeds it in the other.
