Post Customised style set

I have two questions:
  1. When i use a customised style set to format a Word document (in 2007) and i send this to a fellow employee; will my customised style set automatically be sent as well?
  2. If I create a customised style set for a series of Word document (i.e. manuals), can this style set be applied to all?

Hi Sonja,

The Styles travel with the document.

As for applying Styles to multiple documents, the correct way of doing so is to create a template (ie a file with a .dotx/.dotm extension) with those Style definitions, then use the template for creating the documents that are t share those Styles.

Macropod:
thanks for your quick reply... I have some more questions:
1. How do i get the 'reveal formatting' pane on the right in Word 2007?
2. When saving styles for a Template to be based on a Style set, do i have to select 'New documents based on this template' in the styles pane options?
3. How can one see which 'dotx' file or which style set is managing the formatting for a Word doc?
4. How can i be that i only see say 20 styles in the Styles window at the top and yet when i select Print / Print what / Styles - many more are printed. Is it not only the ones used in this document?
Thanks so much for your help,
Sonja

Hi Sonja,

1. Press Shift-F1.
2. I don't believe the 'New documents based on this template' option would make a difference for the template you're creating, but it would probably affect whatever template you're creating the new one from.
3. On the Developer tab, Click 'Document Template'
4. I believe that panel only shows whatever has been defined as part of the template's 'Quick Style' set. If you deine a new 'Quick Style' set and us that, the Styles on offer should vary accordingly.
