Word document dissappeared
I was working on a Word doc (2010) a few days ago and now its missing.
I have check in check for terms I know would be in the doc. I have looked at recent and checked recover unsaved documents. Any ideas what has happened her? I tell Word to autosave every 5 mins. |

I think that nodoby can tell where the file is from this information.
Maybe somebody else has access to computer and deleted or renamed the file? Search your disk for text fragments that were inside that document and files in Word recovery folder. If it does not help, it had to be deleted. |

Thanks for the reply, I have to conclude that its somehow been deleted.
Any ideas how this might have happened? No one else uses the computer and Word is set-up to autosave? |

If only you use that computer, you could have accidentally deleted it when deleting a directory (assuming it was empty or unnecessary).
Another option I think of is that you were working on a file that was not on a hard drive but on some removable device (like pendrive) and it is still there. (but drive was removed) That is more likely, because I heard of such things when I worked in helpdesk. There is also a slight possibility of a virus/trojan but even if I don't think it is a case, you may consider a good scanning. |
