Default Font Issues - Hypatia

I use the hypatia sans font developed by adobe. However, since starting to use Word 2010 the font exhibits unstable behavior within word documents (not excel or other office 2010 products). For examples see below, all of which occured while editing one document .... anyone know what might be causing this? This problem did not occur with Word 2007.

Example 1...original correct condition upon opening file

Examples 2 through 4 .... things that happened to the document while editing

Hi Roger,

The font may not have been registered properly when installed (I assume you installed it and didn't simply copy it to the fonts folder). Try ininstalling & reinstalling the font. In the meantime, it might also be worthwhile checking whether there's been an update to the font file from its maker.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried deleting and reinstalling the fonts; however, the curious behavior persists.

Does the problem occur in other documents? If not, the problem document may have some internal corruption.

It only occurs with this Adobe produced font with MS Word. It occurs in newly created documents as well as previously created ones. I can be editing fine with everything behaving, then suddenly it will start becoming unstable. I have found it i tell word to print (to printer or to adobe pdf) it will reset things correctly (often but not guaranteed).

Hi Roger,

If the document prints OK, that suggests there might be some interaction between your systems display driver and the font rendering on-screen and that there's nothing actually wrong in the document per se. Perhaps a check for and installation of an updated display driver will fix things.
