Default Printing Problem PLEASE HELP

Ok guys here is my problem:

I have two trays i print to at the same printer. One tray prints plain paper and the other prints letter head paper.

When I try to switch the printing options to print to letter head, the printer spits out plain paper. This ONLY happens in Word - not excell or any of the other office programs.

Now I CAN change the tray in the page layout tab/page setup/ paper tab. But it does not work in the normal printer settings.

I have tried resetting the normal.dotm template and deleting the word registery key with no luck.

Any sugestions?

Hi Rohrscheib,

What do you mean by:

Are you referring to something in Word, or to something in your printer driver/hardware? If it's not a Word setting, then you'll need to review the setup instructions for your printer.

My "page setup" is conflicting with my printer options. If I change my printer options to tray 2 before I print it will still print on tray 1 paper. Why? Because the page setup is set to tray 1.

This is not the case in excell. If I change my printer settings to tray 2 in excell, it prints in tray two.

You'll need to explain what you're doing more clearly:

I take it you're setting the page setup via Page layout|Page Setup|Paper. Correct? Where are you setting the printer options? There's nothing on the 'Print Options' tab that allows you to change printer trays.

I'm setting the printer options by clicking the microsoft office button / print - select my printer / properties / basic tab

Hi Rohrscheib,

I suspect what you're describing is due to your Word document having a 'different first page' setup, which directs it to the letterhead tray regardless of the printer options. As Excel doesn't have a 'different first page' setup option, the issue doesn't arise there. If your Word document doesn't have a 'different first page' setup, you could try repairing the Word installation (Word Options|Resources|Diagnose) or reinstalling the printer driver - check for an updated one from the printer manufacturer's web site.
