Hi Cherry,
Your document will need re-working before it can be turned into a fillable form. Basically, what you need to do is to reformat your text boxes so they're behind the text, create a table in front of them with cell sizes to match the input areas indicated by the text boxes, then insert formfields into the table cells. See attached. Forms protection is applied, for fill-in purposes, but no password has been used.

Well help helped, but now am stuck again lol
Right did what you said worked well, but now I need to know how to do a couple of tweaks to the document....
Firstly I would like the drop down field shading to match the box in which it sits, looked for transparency setting but can't find any for the drop boxes/ edit boxes. Also I would like to export it out as a PDF form so that people can fill it in and then post it on forums, when I save as a PDF I lose all the drop boxes just get the text. have attached the problem files and hope that someone can help me on these couple of niggles. Hi Cherry,
It would have been helpful had you said in your original post that the desired end result was a fillable PDF form. In that case I wouldn't have bothered setting it up as a Word form, since you can't save fillable Word forms as fillable PDF forms. To get a fillable PDF form, you'll need to use Adobe Acrobat Professional or an equivalent product that can create them. Basically, what you can do is take your original PDF then overlay that with PDF fields. For the Word form, you can toggle the formfield shading on/off via the shading button on the Legacy Forms toolbar, which you can access via Developer|Controls|Legacy Tools - you'll need to have the Developer tab on the ribbon activated to do this (see Word Options|Popular|Show Developer tab in Ribbon).
