Red face Grammar

Hi there newbie here
This is so basic Im rather embarassed posting it
My partner has started writing again and I proof read his stuff. On my new laptop I have Microsoft Word Starter 2010.

The problem is I correct the grammar, save, but the corrections come up again the next time I open the document.
I started off clicking on 'ignore once', then tried clicking on 'ignore rule', neither of which work, (if someone could also explain the 'ignore rule' Id be grateful!)
Help!

The spelling and grammar checker works on a per-document/per-session basis. Basically when you run the checker, if you leave some items uncorrected and close the document, it will prompt for those same items the next time you open the document and run the checker.

Ignore rule basically ignores all grammar items that fail that particular grammar rule. For example, if the grammar checker stops on a fragment sentence and you select Ignore Rule, it will not stop on any other fragment sentences in the rest of the document.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, but now Im even more confused!
With ref to the first comment, I have the checker on all the time so does that mean that I would have to correct the whole document then save for the checker not to prompt again? But then if I do it all, then open the 'finished' document another time will it prompt me again?
Secondly, even when I check the 'ignore rule' its prompting me each time, is that to do with the above?
Is there any way that I can check as I go (doing part of the document each time) and not have the checker prompt? Anything permanent? Other than turning it off!

Just for clarification, are you having an issue where you correct a grammar item and save the document, and then the item reverts to the previous error when you open the document again; or are you ignoring and item and saving the document and then having Word flag the ignored item again the next time you open the document?

The latter case is normal. The former is not.
