Help me get rid of the squiggly line!
A long time ago I accidentally created a squiggly line kind of like this in a Word Document:
^^^^^^^^^ (although that's just shift-6 a bunch of times, not the same thing.) If I recall correctly, I created it accidentally by typing several asterisks (shift-8 or *****) where I wanted a page break in a story. After I pressed enter to go to the next line, the infamous squiggly line appeared. It moves around on its own and can neither be copied nor pasted. I try to move it to the end of the document, but it reappears throughout the document in spite of my efforts. I even tried to copy and paste the entire contents of the document into a Google Doc in hopes that it would make the squiggly line disappear (which it did). But when I copied and pasted it back into Word, the squiggly line reared its ugly head again. This story is very important to me, and I am constantly getting distracted during rewrites by the stupid squiggly line. I'm fairly sure there must be some easy way to get rid of it. I tried to make the same mistake in a new Word Doc, and apparently the squiggly line is called a border? But in the new version of Word, the border can be deleted. Any ideas? |

Hi Perseid,
Use Ctrl-A to select the whole document, then choose the borders button on the 'paragraph' tab and select 'no border'. The borders should now be gone from the document.
