Default Problems Importing Pictures

I've been dealing with MS Word for years and I've never run into this problem. I converted a PDF into MS Word as a DOC file. The Word on my desktop is MS Word 2000. The one i use at work is 2007.

The PDF that I converted had picture it in. I saved this doc as a Word Document and RTF several times with no problems. Then i inserted some pictures of my own. The pictures that I inserted stayed in the file. The originals that were placed in there from the PDF conversion disappeared. I re-inserted the pictures using Word 2000, but when i move the folder that i imported the picture from, they disappear again.

I don't know why this is happening. I'm going to try this in Word 2007 and save it as both a DOCX and DOC file and see if that makes a difference. This is just a test.

Does anyone know why this is happening and what i can do? I don' want to transport a folder with my file everytime i get ready to open it.

Hi Maurice,

If you insert picture with links, then move the document to another PC, Word won't be able to find the linked files unless they're on the new system and the path from the drive name and root folder to them is exactly the same.

I follow you. However, i don't know how to insert pictures via links. I alway Insert > Picture > from File. Plus i didn't have this problem until i inserted other pictures. The previous pictures were there from the original PDF. Its just wierd.

Thanks either way. I did it again wiht Word 2007 at work and it worked just fine.
