I have a Word 2010 doc that has linked excel tables. When I turn on track changes, save, then reopen the document all of my excel links are broken and converted to pictures. Why does this happen? Is there a fix?
Thanks! |

Hi sheree,
Are the linked objects subject to change tracking? If so, it might be better to either not use change tracking while you're inserting them, or accept the corresponding changes before the document is saved.

Good question Paul. I'm not sure if they are subject to the track changes in this version. All of the tables were inserted and linked prior to turning on track changes. Tracking changes within the excel tables has never been a concern because Word has never tracked those changes anyway. I primarily use it to track changes in the word document. But I do need the excel tables to stay linked. The older versions of word never automatically broke links like this.
