Default Formatting Problems when Pasting

Hi all

One of my colleagues has repeated problems when pasting between documents (Word 2003 on XP PC). She will have a proposal document layed out in our standard format with Titles, subtitles, paragraphs etc. then when she pastes information from a different document the whole thing screws up. The second donor document may well have originated from the states, with different page setup/print driver governing.

Is it possible to "fix" the formatting such that any text pasted into her document conforms to her current settings rather than overriding and corrupting them?

TIA

Phil

Hi Phil,

You can configure Word 2003 & later to either retain the source formatting when pasting or to override it with the destination formatting.

One thing to be careful of, though, where page layouts are concerned is that, if you copy & paste Section breaks, they will tend to override your page layout (ie size, orientation, margins, headers & footers). You can either delete the Section breaks before or after the copy/paste (in which case you also lose any headers & footers associated with them) or you can re-format the errant Sections' page layout.
