Cross-reference endnote text
My document contains multiple references to a single endnote called "Reference 1" which is at the very end of my document. The first endnote link (or endnote reference mark) is hyperlinked directly to the endnote text, but all of the following endnote links are hyperlinked to the first. How can I make all endnote links referring to "Reference 1" actually hyperlink to "Reference 1" at the very bottom of the document?
Thanks, I hope this is clear. |

Hi Smed,
The only way to do that would be to put a bookmark in the endnote and insert cross-references to the bookmark. The alternative is to accept what you now have and use two steps to get to the endnote. If you add the forward & back arrows to the QAT, that'll make getting back to the cross-reference's location much easier. For details, see the thread: https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...hyperlink.html

It seems so strange that this is the default mode for endnotes.

The behaviour is consistent with the way all other cross-referencing works - they link to the cross-referenced item. For footnotes and endnotes, that's the reference in the body of the document.
