No nothing in Programs and Feature either. Did find something called Office Document Converter and uninstalled this and this did not change anything. Could it be called some else or part of something.
It goes away when I uninstall Office Ultimate 2007 but when I re-install Office the problem come back. |

Hi David,
I don't understand how you can have the PDF/XPS Save option without the add-in being installed. See: http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/he...010167527.aspx where Microsoft says: Quote:

OK I tried installing the separate add on for Save As PDF or XPS and this did not fix the problem. I tried uninstalling and the Save As PDF or XPS option is still there in Word. And still is not working. I see from the link you sent me that there are separate add-ins for PDF and XPS and I tried those as well and still no luck in fixing the problem.
OK well maybe we need to go back and review. This is my environment: Dell Precision M4400 laptop Intel core2 extreme CPU Q9300 2.53 GHz 8 GB RAM 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate Office Ultimate 2007 The problem: About 3 weeks ago now the option Save As PDF or XPS started throwing an error that a file was in use. So far I have attempted to repair and uninstall and then reinstall Acrobat Pro 9.x, Adobe R and Reader 9.x, Office Ultimate 2007 and finally the Microsoft Office 2007 Save As PDF or XPS add-in. I can assure you that the Save As PDF or XPS option came with Office Ultimate 2007 as is and was not added later. One additional note on this problem, if I disable the option ISO 19005-1 compliant (PDF/A) under the PDF Options of the Save As PDF or XPS options then the error message does not occur and the file is saved as a PDF. I agree with you that some file has gotten corrupted but I have not been able to locate what file the error message is referring to. I have searched the entire hard drive and there is no file in the format of ~*.* or *.tmp or *.temp anywhere that I can find. |

Hi David,
A simple search for files with the '~' prefix or .tmp suffix probably won't find the files you need to find, because the folders they're likely to be in are hidden. That's why I suggested inputting the following paths into Windows Explorer's folder path field: C:\Users\%UserName%\Appdata\Local\Temp C:\Users\%UserName%\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Word Once you get to those folders, you can see whether any relevant files are there. I'd be surprised if neither folder had any.

Found some files but none in the ~*.* or *.tmp format but deleted everything there anyway. When I tried the Save As PDF again got the same error message as before. So I guess this means that what ever file is cause the problem it is not in the temp folder.
Do you know what DLL or other files are involved with doing this Save As to PDF? |

Hi David,

This is all rather perplexing - problems in this area almost always stem from interactions with virus scanners and the like, or left-over .tmp files and such. At this stage, I'd suggest going though the process outlined at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541 Beyond that, you could try deleting the Building Blocks.dotx file, which you'd do with Word closed. For this, see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925175
