In Word 2003 Normal view, how do I get text box contents to show?

Here the box interior shows solid black.

In Print Layout it shows fine.

You do not get it to show.
Normal (now called Draft) view does not show graphical elements. Even though it contains text, a Text Box is a graphical element.

This has not changed in the latest versions of Word.
