Default Does Word 2007 suffer the "Relative Paths to External Files" problem?

I understand from

https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...nal-files.html that some versions of Word suffer a Relative Paths to External Files problem. Does Word 2007 suffer this problem?

Word 2003 does not suffer this problem and I want to avoid acquiring the problem when making a prospective minimum upgrade to hopefully solve a different problem with Word 2003.

The material in that thread applies to all Word versions.

should you need to move the files as a group to another folder (eg putting them on a CD or USB stick for portability), all the links will break.
My many tests on Word 2003 have found no such fails.

If anyone has a test procedure that verifies this fail on Word 2003 and 2007, I'd love to see it.

Thanks.

The behaviour is well documented. I'm not about to enter into a debate on the matter.

No problem. Thanks.

If anyone else has a test procedure or even just an XLS that verifies this fail on Word 2003 and 2007, I'd love to see it.

In case you hadn't noticed, Word is not Excel, and the topic in the Word Fields and Relative Paths to External Files thread concerns links in Word files. Try paying attention sometime. You seem adept at not doing that.

I didn't develop a comprehensive solution for a non-existent propblem.

Thread closed.

You should not "update" to Word 2007.
It is the worst version of Word since Word 2000.
It was marketed before it was ready.

You should at least get Word 2010 which was a good product.
Note, this is not offered or supported by Microsoft.
You need to be very careful of third-party retailers who may be selling defective or tainted versions. The best place to get an out-of-date version of Word is likely to be a local computer repair place where you can go and complain to a live person in person if it does not work.

The Ribbon User Interface takes some getting used to. Be prepared for a learning curve.

As Paul stated, this problem exists for all versions of Word.
It is unlikely that this will change.
