Default Can't open url on tablet

I have a word document which contains urls.

If I use my Surface tablet with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, I can open the url when pressing Ctrl and clicking on the url.

If I don't have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, I cannot open the url.

Why not?

Could you expand a bit on what isn't working, exactly?

For example, are you saying that using some other mouse than a bluetooth mouse fails?

Or does the built-in touchpad not work?
