Hello
I would like me TOC to be able to read alpha and numeric information so when the table is updated it keeps the alpha and numeric information. Here is my example of what the table should be (in my document it is formatted correctly with the page number alignment etc): Table of Contents EXECUTIVE SUMMARY........................................... ............................ES-1 1.0 INTRODUCTION...................................... ..............................................1 2.0 REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES........................................ .....................1 2.1 Asbestos Abatement Manual............................................ ................1 2.2 National Building Code – 2023 Alberta Edition....................................2 2.3 Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.........................................3 2.4 OHS Regulation........................................ ......................................3 2.5 OHS Code.............................................. .......................................3 3.0 SCOPE AND METHODOLOGY....................................... ............................3 The Executive Summary in RED should read ES-1 even after the table is updated, but when I update the table the 'ES-' is gone and it just says 1. how do I get the table to recognize alpha as well as numeric information? Thank you! |

Basically, you can't. What you can do, is use a Section break so that you can give your Executive Summary pages a different numbering scheme (e.g. Roman Numerals). The TOC will pick that up.
See: Numbering Front Matter (Ribbon)
