unwanted row of squares

Hi,
I usually make 3 stars when I want to highlight an important paragraph. But when I press Enter it turns into a row of squares. How can I avoid this? And also how do I delete it because I can't select it to delete?

To delete it: you need to select the line clicking beside it then use Del, or, use Undo just after it happens.
To avoid it happening: go to menu File / Options / Proofing / Autocorrect Options... / and in tab "Autoformat As You Type" / unselect "Border Lines" in section "Apply As You Type".

If you want to permanently prevent asterisks and other symbols to be converted into a border line, clear the option for "Border lines" at File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat As You Type. See the screen shot.
