Default Endote number flush left instead of indented

I don't understand this at all. I added an endnote into the middle of existing endnotes. Those notes have the number indented. Why did the new one put the number flush left? The endnote text is already indented. If I try to modify the reference, I cannot touch the paragraph at all. Something is very weird here. Why is one endnote broken but the others are fine? Perhaps I need to run that macro, but why in this document only???

As previously advised, you need to modify the EndNote Text Style to apply whatever paragraph formatting you require for your EndNotes.

Default Endnote number

Yes, indeed. I had already set the Endnote Text paragraph to indent the first line, as the attached .jpg picture shows. Why it shows (Asian) Japanese I've no idea as I don't ever use Japanese anything.

So, given the indent instruction for the first line in the endnote text, why did I get the weird 2 endnote number in the second image? Thanks.

You should uncheck the 'Automatically Update' attribute and set the font to whatever font you actually want the EndNotes to use.

The strange font name and inconsistent layout suggest your document was originally copied from another that used different fonts etc., or you own template has such characteristics. If you attach an extract from your document to a post containing sufficient of the abberant content to demonstrate what's going on, I could investigate it further.

Click in the problematic endnote text and press Ctrl+Q (which reverts to the paragraph formatting of the underlying Endnote Text style). What happens to the formatting?
