I am re-creating a word template that someone else made that is a combination of straight text, drop down lists, and a lot of Building Blocks/Quick Parts which break often. Most often someone will click in the field and there will be no options to select.
We create multiple Quick Parts with the same name but different text depending on what we need- so it functions like a more robust drop down list without being a drop down list. We approached it this way because the building block text we need to choose from are often large chunks of text, some with tables, rather than a yes or no answer. For example, think of the question- Are there any trees in the neighborhood? You have two options to select from, the first one populates the document with 'Yes, there are approximately 20 trees of 5 different species in the neighborhood. (And includes a table that must be filled in). The second answer is "No, there are no trees in the neighborhood. This causes the neighborhood to.....etc etc etc" Other uses include picking a specific state from a list that has associated text with it pertinent to that state. I can recreate this template and deal with it breaking on the regular or see if there's a better way to manage it. Hopefully this makes sense and someone can direct me rather than the floundering I'm doing currently. Thanks! |
