Default microsoft office 2010

My laptop came installed with a 60 day trial period for Office 2007. When the trial period was running out I purchased and installed Office 2010.
My problem is that when I try to open an email attachment (word, excel etc) the system tries to use office 2007. There must be an easy answer to this. Can you help please?
Chris

Default Two Offices?

Do you still have the 2007 trial installed? If so, I would think you'd want to uninstall it, but I don't know what issues this might involve. I would post to the Office forum, not Word.

Thanks for that advice. I thought so too. How do you uninstall? Is it just a delete? (You can tell I'm very much a novice)

Again, check with the Office specialists, but essentially, you can use your original program disc, if you have one, or go into the Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs. Among the issues would be what are called shared files--files which both versions use and need. I would think that uninstalling he '07 would not remove these, and that, in any case, you can repair the '10 version with the discs if problems come up. Experience, however, tells me to ask someone knowledgeable first, to avoid headahces and wasted time.

Chris,

Uninstalling the MS Office 2007 from your computer completely will be the ultimate resolution for this issue.

I would advice you to follow the below link for uninstalling the MS Office program:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179

Just the run the fixit program in your computer and it will uninstall the MS Office 2007 from your computer and then you can install the MS Office 2010.
