![]() Good day folks. Can somebody please provide me step by step directions for how to insert the cog or gear symbol into a word document? I'm guessing I need to go to insert and then look through the special characters but I don't have time to hunt for this. Google says I need to search for U+2699 but this symbol is obviously not the gear symbol. PLease advise when you can. Many thanks |

U+2699 is Unicode for "GEAR" (⚙).
U+26ED is Unicode for "GEAR WITHOUT HUB" (⛭). U+26EE is Unicode for "GEAR WITH HANDLES" (⛮). |

Just type 2699 (the Unicode number), immediately followed by Alt+X. Word will replace the Unicode number with the corresponding symbol in the appropriate font.

When I typed the number and pressed Alt+X Word entered the symbol with the Segoe UI Symbol font.
Insert ASCII or Unicode character codes in Word - Microsoft Support I did nothing to change the font. To change back, I used Ctrl+Spacebar to remove direct formatting (return to the underlying paragraph style). |
