Help with a Pop up message
Hi all!
Seeking advice for creating a pop up message every time a specific document (that is already created) is opened. Background - a document i have already created a certain amount of data into, to be used as a template document, but requires saving as a diff version first to avoid altering the template. A simple message of "please remember to save a copy first before altering" Forgive my poor knowledge but this code for the message will need to go with document so it can be emailed around to various users. Many thanks! |

A "template" in Word is not just a model document, but rather a different file type.
The default behavior for a template, when double-clicked on, is to create a new unnamed document with the same layout and text as the template. Please see: Templates in Microsoft Word Are you using the desktop application in Office 2021 or the deskttop application in Microsoft 365? |

So apologies, my terminology wasn’t clear. I haven’t created an actual template but rather just a document that I’d like everyone to use, but not a template file type. Using 365 Thanks again |

Keep things simple. Save the document you have created as a template (.dotx/.dotm). That way other users won't be editing the template, and won't need to be reminded to save it before editing.
