Unhappy How to check spelling and punctuation without auto-correct

I want MS Word 2019 to flag what it thinks are typos and punctuation problems, but not do anything about them besides underline them or the like. I need to check a long document very very carefully. It will be published as part of a new translation of the Bible, so perfection is absolutely necessary. I can't figure out how to get typos flagged but not corrected. The same goes for punctuation.

What I really want is to "read aloud" the document and have MS Word tell me each punctuation mark. I'm slowly crawling through the entire 70-page document because of punctuation problems in the first draft.

Is there a way to do either of these? Thanks.

Duncan

For the spelling, just run a spell check (F7) and then use the Esc key to exit from the Editor or close the Editor pane.

Default Checking punctuation

Thanks. I of course did spell-checking, but that doesn't help in a 70-page document to find unmatched double and single quote characters.

Word does not check for unmatched quotation marks.
You can use Find to find them and examine for a match.
