Can the default Wrapping Style settings for Text Boxes be set
When creating a Text Box, the Wrapping Style always tends to be "In front of text". Set AutoShape Defaults doesn't work. Setting the default setting "Insert/paste picture as: In line with text" doesn't seem to be for TEXT BOXES. I just can't seem to find any information on whether this can be set as a default and if not, does it mean that for every new text box, you have to remember to set the Wrapping Style (unless you copy/paste)? |

Insert a textbox and set the wordwrap. Then add it to your textbox gallery. (with the textbox selected, go to Insert tab, click Textbox, then at the bottom is add to gallery).
I modify almost anything I use in the galleries... they make great starting points, but I have to customize. You can even make multiple categories within the galleries, but they will sort alphabetically... the category I use the most is named "AaKimberly" so it will be at the top. |

Thank you Kimberly. While your suggesting sounds good and I did get it to work once, there's some inconsistent behaviour. If I choose one of the default Text Boxes and don't make a change, then the "Save Selection to Text Box Gallery" option is enabled. If I make a change, then try to do the same thing, then it is greyed out (disabled). I want to do this for a "Draw Text Box", not one of the default ones, and that also is disabled, although one time I seem to have gotten it, but it wasn't with the Wrapping Style I wanted (In Line with Text).
I can't understand why this behaviour would be this inconsistent. You should be able to save to gallery at any time, under what scenario would you not be able to? |

1. Make sure that the insertion point isn't inside the textbox... you should have it selected, not be inside it, so click on the border to select. Since it works consistently on my Office 7 machine, I think this is the issue you are having.
2. For textboxes that you made using the Shapes button, add them to the QuickParts gallery instead of the textbox gallery. For ones I create using "draw textbox", I can add to the Textbox gallery without problem. |

Thank you. Yes, I was selecting the border and it wasn't consistently working. I have Office 2007.
In any case, your suggestion to save it to the Quick Parts Gallery does work. While I don't understand why a Text Box that I create can't be saved to the Text Box Gallery, at least I have a solution using the Quick Parts Gallery. Thanks again for your help. |
