White font in Styles preview (not displaying)
Word 2010
If I create a new custom style that includes a white font I can only preview the name I have associated with the new style. Is there a way of applying a different colour background to the style previews that would display white fonts. |

No, there isn't.

In Word 365, the preview does show a style name correctly even if the font color is set to white.
I realize that it doesn't help with Word 2010, but at least there is some progress.

Thanks for replying.
I guess the only option is to continue using a unique colour for the font style and use find and replace (with white) after editing. |

The most convenient workaround would be to turn off the "Show Preview" option in the Styles pane, at least when you are editing a document that includes a style whose text color is the same as the page background. Using Find & Replace the way you describe it would add an extra step to your work process.

That's perfect for me. I want to create menus and sub menus using paragraph spacing rather than bullets. Likewise, for some of the text blocks I'm using, as well as coloured background tables. Working with the Styles window docker instead of the ribbon previews, allows a lot more descriptive naming for styles. Spacing can be previewed within the name, as below. Title ...Menu ......Sub Menu I'm confident I can create a custom Styles window equally as descriptive as the ribbon preview. Thanks, it's appreciated. |
