Hello:


I have scoured the Internet without luck, trying to find pictures of the formatting symbols that are in Word Find/Replace and are listed under Special. What I am trying to find is what the symbol in the attached file is called (inverted P, but not with a filled loop, thus NOT the paragraph mark).


If anyone can help me here I would greatly appreciate it.

Have a try to obtain its ascii code. If available you can then search for it in the web.
Select one of these characters then go to the Immediate window of VBE (Ctrl+G if not visible), paste this code and press Enter:

The symbol in your screen shot is a paragraph mark character, formatted in the Courier New font, or possibly in some other monospaced font.

You can insert it if you activate NUMLOCK and then press Alt+0182. You will have to select and format it in Courier New.

No relation, as far as I know.

Blom is a fairly common name, though not as common as Andersson, for example.

Yes, you are right, of course. My name was Göransson when I emigrated from Sweden to the USA 1981. After 1-1/2 years here, I changed to Leander, my mother's maiden name. Much easier to live with :-). The most common name in Sweden is/used to be Johansson.

You can also insert it using the Insert > Symbol dialog. It is one of the "special characters" and you can assign a keyboard shortcut or AutoCorrect entry to it.


When you reveal non-printing formatting marks, Word uses it to show a paragraph mark (end of a paragraph) in the document. Those disappear when you hide the marks and do not print.

Göransson... Hm, any relation to Ludwig Göransson who won an Academy Award for sound? :-)

Nope, Ludwig, if related, is so distant that I have never seen any relationship.


Yes, keeping Swedish very well. Was a translator (Eng => Swe) for 20 years. Hurt my English a little, though.
