Default Some Chit-Chat about footnotes

Hi friends!

I think we have all come to learn the extreme limitations Word put on FN design.

But I thought I would start a thread where we could discuss workarounds, ideas on how to influence MSoft to implement these things (maybe working together on the suggestions website to hype up the votes), or just a place to vent hot air about what's no good. The only wanna-be that I have had over the nears that has been implemented in Word is FN in one column to a 2 column (main) text.

FN are a very important part of any document/book. Especially in scholarly works. You want the reader to be able to read continuously without getting bogged down with too many details and tangents but expanded information should be readily at hand. = Footnotes!!!

If I could have my way this is what I would request:

1. Ability to insert text boxes, frames, and graphics in the FN area and have those elements linked to paragraphs in the FN area.

2. Footnotes to Footnotes, Sometimes even the footnotes become non-focused by too many details and tangents.

3. Multiple sets of running FN. Now you can only have one set of FN and one set of EN.

4. Continuous in-line FN without a CR LF between them like this:

A. This is FN number one. B. This is FN number 2

5. More options for formatting FN referrers and "referees" (i/e the number/ letter in the FN area.

What do you guys think?

Thank you and have a good day!

Susan Flamingo
