Text Box Duplication
Hi friends
I have 19 text boxes in one document that should all have the same date in them. What I would like to be able to do is only type the date once, and this will put the date in all boxes. is this possible? Thanks |

In one of the places, go to Insert > Quick Parts > Document Property > Publish Date
This will insert a Content Control which you can then edit its properties (on the Developer Tab) to set your preferred date format. Once you have it right, copy and paste this Content Control to all the other locations.

thanks for this, unfortunately this isn't really what I was after. I am hoping to insert the date in box 1, then it automatically fill into the other 18. Any further ideas?

It would be a good idea to try the suggestion before dismissing it out of hand. As soon as your cursor leaves the changed content control all the others will automatically change - is that not fast enough for you?
Were you hoping for a solution that didn't require any setup at all?

Again, try it.
This is your solution. You will type in any of the Content Controls (not text boxes, although you can put one in a textbox or add a border) and what is typed there appears in all of them. |

I very much appreciate your help, however, I am using word for Mac, and there is no Quick parts menu, only Auto Text which I am unable to get to do as you suggest.
Thanks |

You can still do this with the Mac. The easy way is to get on a Windows version and construct your template, which will then work on the Mac. Almost as easy is to find these document property content controls in an existing document and paste them into a document on the Mac. Lucjkily, there is one on my web site that can be used for this. Mac Content Controls Document - Experimental You can copy and paste from that into your Mac document. The third way is to actually construct mapped content controls programmatically. That is a completely different level. Start here: Content Controls for macOS by John Korchok |
