Yikes! Corrupt normal.dotm
I struck an iceberg and almost sinking...Plz throw me a lifesaver...Women and children first...
Windows told me I had updates pending so I did restart. Opened Word and it crashed on every file Tried removing add-ons - nothing helped. Renamed normal.dotm to normalold.dotm and it went back to working. When I try to copy, using the organizer, the macros from normalold.dotm to (the new) normal.dotm it hangs. The long macros that people here have helped me with I have a backup, but over time I have made many (at least 20) short macros that I constantly use. Is there a way I can salvage them from normalold.dotm? I can open normalOLD.dotm in Word and behold if I open up the VB window all the macros are simply not there (except for one that I don't need anyway) Bizzare. SO where have they gone? TIA Susan ----------- CP MSoft support community Update 18:00 local time (GMT Plus 2) I was able to drag and drop normalold.dotm into Word and the macros were still there. I hurried up and exported the module with my short macros and then tried to export another module (which looked empty) and Word crashed. Opened new doc with new normal.dot and imported the BAS that I had exported and now everything looks ok. I guess I should add normal.dotm to my regular backup routine. Thanks to all!! - Susan |

Susan,
Thank you for the update. However, I am locking this post. You have cross-posted this. Please follow the cross-posting etiquette. You were informed about this previously. You can edit your post to do that even though it is locked. 1. CP with a link is not sufficient notice. "Cross-posted at'" with a link and a note as to which post is the primary. 2. You need to provide links in each post to all other posts being made. 3. Do not immediately cross-post. Wait to see if you get help with the first one. Cross-posting should be the exception, not the regular practice. For cross-posting etiquette, please read: A Message to Forum Cross-Posters |
