Default Spell check's suggested words do not include the most obvious word

Anyone else find that spell check very often does not suggest the obvious word when a something is misspelled?

Spellcheck will often offer multiple alternatives but NOT the correct one, which may be just one or two letters off from the misspelling. This is so basic to the function of MS Word that I can't understand why it is so bad.

Does anyone know why this is? Is there any hope that AI will help improve spellcheck in the future? Is there any solution today?

In my opinion, it is usually pretty good at it.

There are some limitations to proofing suggestions in Office/Word. Generally, suggestions are better if the typo at least starts with the correct letter, in my experience. :-)

You should report inconsistencies and errors with the spellchecker directly to Microsoft, as Charles has already suggested. In Word, click Help > Feedback.

For spellchecking provided by the operating system, use the feedback mechanism in Windows. See Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app - Microsoft Support.
