Default How to manage format, style or design

Hello everyone! Thanks for the help in advance and please pardon if this is not the right place to post my question.

I am editing a big file (a book of 450 pages). I was using the presettled editing and style formats at the Desing tab (Normal, Title 1, Title 2, etc...). However, I have the following doubts:

1- I want to change one format (for example, Title1) in the whole document. That is to say, I want to apply my change every time I already specified that something is edited as "Title 1". How can I do this? Changing the "Title 1" specifications does not work.

2-I want to change the format of the whole document except for the parts that I already specified in a different style (like Title 1, Title 2, etc...) How should I do this? I have tried changing the "normal" presettled editing style but this doesn't work and it does not apply to the document. Then, I also tried selecting the whole document and then changing the format, but then it also applies to the parts of the text that I already set to be other styles (like Title 1, Title 2, etc...)

Thanks in advance

  1. Look for the style you want to edit in either the styles pane or the Styles gallery on the Home tab.
  2. Right click the style and select modify.
  3. Make the changes you want then press OK on each dialog.
  4. The changes made will then be applied to the text in the document that has that text applied unless it also has manually applied formatting.

Are your other styles based on a style that you are changing?
