Inconsistent field values in header
I use StyleRef fields for Heading 1 titles in even page headers and Heading 2 titles in odd page headers. So far, the even pages update correctly. The first heading 2 title appears in page 8 (even), so I put the StyleRef field for Heading 2 in the header of the following odd page 9. I do not see any title display in the header of page 9 but in subsequent odd pages I see the newer Heading 2 titles. I also see the first Heading 2 title appear on earlier odd pages before the title it appears in the text in page 8.
Another mystery is that a Heading 2 title in uppercase on page 15 (GENERAL EXPERIENCES..) is shown in lower case (General Experiences..) in the header. |

1. The StyleRef field is well documented in Word's online help: see Field codes: StyleRef field - Microsoft Support
You may find it helpful to review Word's online help before posting questions as you may get the answers you need more quickly. 2. The StyleRef field will display the text as it was typed. The heading on page 15 wasn't typed in uppercase. That has been applied afterwards as font formatting. |

Every section of a Word document has three different headers and three different footers, which you may or may not see depending on your settings. These are independent of one another but may be linked to the same header/footer in the previous section.
