Default StyleRef field in header does not repeat in subsequent pages

I added a StyleRef field for Heading 1 in the header of page 2 and expected it to repeat in even pages starting with page 4, yet I do not see that. After page 2 all pages are linked to previous. What am I missing?

Your sample doc has 3 sections in 5 pages. Each section needs to be examined to fully understand what is going on but lets jump to the last section which is where your stated issue is seen.

Section 3 covers pages 3-5. Section 3 is set to have both a Different first page and Different Odd/Even pages - which means that Section 3 has three different headers and footers. I can see you have added a styleref field to the First Page Header of Section 3 but you haven't added it to the Even Page Header of Section 3 (which is linked to the Even Page Header of Section 2).

I am not sure why you felt you needed the section break after the first page of the Geneology section of the document so I would remove that last section break and then pay attention to which header I was worried about.

Thanks for your response. The reason I started a new section on page 2 is because I did not want to show a page number on page 1. Aparently the problem was with having a different first page. Once this was taken out, the styleref field in page 2 also appeared in page4. I added a few more pages and tried to repeat the process to the odd pages starting from page 3, this time using Heading 2 for styleref field. As expected the odd pages display the Heading 2 in the header. The problem I have now is I cannot put the page number field to the extreme right for odd pages on the same line as the styleref field. I have attached a modified file

Your odd page header in the last section is not well formed. It is best to set alignments by using paragraph alignment and tabs rather than spaces to push things over.

You have also included a styleref to Heading 2 and in that sample document, your Heading 2 instance happens to include a soft return (new line break) so that is included in the StyleRef result in the header. To fix that you should remove the soft return from the Heading 2 instance in the BODY of the document.

To get the alignment right in that header, remove the spaces in front of the StyleRef field. Use the very special alignment tabs which you can find in the Header/Footer ribbon to place the Center and Right Alignment tabs in your header.

Finally success! Thank you for your patience and guidance. Now I can proceed with my translation.
