Pages go from thin to wider

I'm not sure why, but in a fairly large document i am working on (9000 pages) very occasionally the pages will go from normal to be wider. I've checked the layout settings and they seem to be the same for both pages.

Can anyone explain what is going on and how I may be able to fix it?

In the attached picture the wider page comes straight after a section break in the above page.

These would indicate a section break changing either orientation or page size.
Look at it in draft view.

I changed all the section breaks to page breaks and it seems to have solved my issue.

I hope you saved a backup!

Section breaks often contain quite a bit of other formatting information that is just for that section.

What gets carried over when you start a new section?
