Pages go from thin to wider

These would indicate a section break changing either orientation or page size.
Look at it in draft view.

I changed all the section breaks to page breaks and it seems to have solved my issue.

I hope you saved a backup!

Section breaks often contain quite a bit of other formatting information that is just for that section.
