Default Some Hyperlinks Work, Others Give "Browser Out of Date" Error

I'm having a problem with some hyperlinks in one of my Word 2000 documents. Since Word 1.0 (35 years ago) I have never seen this problem, so I attached a portion of the document that demonstrates the problem.

In the example, clicking on any of the 3 top links I results in a page saying my browser is out of date. Clicking on the last link in the example gets me to the appropriate website page.

I've tried several things, including copying the bad link to Notepad, then from Notepad into a new Word document and then clicking the link, but I still get the error message.

I notice that if I remove the "https://www." from the link and paste it into my URL field, the link works. If I then copy that link from the URL field into my document and then click on it, the link does not work.

I also notice that the good link ends with ".html" while the bad links do not have that ending, so I tried tacking ".html" on the end of one of the bad links but that does not fix the problem.

I'm at a loss here and maybe somebody can help me out?

Wow, Word 2000?

I opened your document in Word 2021 and all of the hyperlinks on your page opened web pages that seemed appropriate.

Perhaps you need to update your browser. My default browser is Firefox.

My default browser is Firefox version 121.0.

Like I wrote, I've been using MS Word since version 1. Office 95, XP, and 2000 without this problem. And I cannot see any difference between the links that fail and the link that works.

I have a couple more ideas to try out...
I copied the good link to another location in my document and when I click it, it works.
Then I replaced the link contents with the contents of the bad link and it didn't work.

But if I copy the link into a new LibreOffice "Word" document, then the link works correctly.

I'm having trouble pasting the text of a URL into this reply. Something keeps changing it into a link, so I can't provide you any more information.

About halfway through my attempts to provide link text into this thread I ran into a lot of trouble. Although I typed in the link text, when I sent the message something turned them into hyperlinks and they would not resolve.

Then everything began to work as it should - all hyperlinks resolved to the location indicated by their text.

When one of the bad links then no longer resolved correctly, I restarted the computer and now I am right back where I started: The first links gave an "outdated browser" error and the last link resolved okay.
It sure seems like something in the document is haywire. I give up.

Again, I opened your sample document. All of the links worked fine.

Okay. I'll just live with it. At least I can open the links by removing the "https://www." from the link and pasting what's left into my URL field.
