Unable to erase background color from word text originated by a pdf conversion

It is common for pdf conversions to place all the text in text boxes, which is the case for the first page of your document. The yellow lines are shapes and can easily be selected either by clicking on them, or by displaying the selection pane from the Home tab (see screenshots). Delete the shapes, keep the rectangles.
The second page of the document is a picture, so you will not be able to edit that. |

Clicking on the yellow lines seems not to work ... but the selection pane works beautifully! Thank you very much Italophile! Antonio
