Default Vertically center text on a page (was:Printing on 8x 10)

Hello,

I'm trying to print a speech on an 8 x 10 paper. I want to move the enter speech down to center it in the paper. But when I print, the text is back at the top, even though I have moved it down using the enter button.

The Enter key is not the way to position text vertically in Word.
2.2 Why you should press Enter only once to end a paragraph
Doing this leads to unpredictable behaviors and makes documents more difficult to edit.

You could use Space Before formatting often and can change the page layout to vertically center text.

This must be a very short speech!

I tried that. Nothing I try works. It shows on my word document to be moved down because I added space before format, but when I print, it's still at the top of the page. Is it the printer??

I'm sorry, I was not thinking. Space-before formatting does not work at the beginning of a section (or document).
Did you try centering the page vertically under Layout?
Align text left or right, center text, or justify text on a page - Microsoft Support
In that support page, see Center Text Vertically

You can fake out space before by having your text not at the start of the section; put a blank paragraph before it. You will end up with the space taken up by the blank paragraph and the space-before formatting for the new one.

For space-before to work at the beginning of a section, it needs to be in a Frame.
Space Before Heading at beginning of page - Using Frames

Would you not just use Layout tab, Page Setup (expand), third tab, Center?

If you only want one section of your document centered, you'll have to use section breaks, and then in the next section you can switch back to Top.
