Default Word Exploding~

Hi friends!

I am trying to insert a piece of clipart as a footnote separator. I inserted it into the doc then copied it to the clipboard and tried to paste it into the FN separator section. Word exploded and I had to restart. I tried other images and it repeats as above.
Does any genius here have a solution to this?

Thank You
Susan

I followed the instructions using "insert" instead of pasting the bitmap and it worked fine. Why pasting would not work is beyond me. I have no words to express my extreme gratitude!

Default Interesting

What is really interesting is that when I followed these instructions you can edit the bitmaps in the footnote divider area even in print preview mode, EVEN THOUGH YOU CANNOT TOUCH THE TEXT OF THE DIVIDER IN THAT MODE. AND IN THE DIVIDER MODE YOU CANNOT EVEN SEE THEM. WIERD...

I can reproduce what you are describing, using Word 2021 (on Windows 11). Pasting a picture, even one whose Text Wrapping is "In line with text" into the Footnote Separator will crash Word. Inserting a saved file via Insert > Pictures > This Device does work.

I recommend that you report this via the feedback facility in Word.

All incoming feedback will be read. Whether it will actually be fixed is up to Microsoft, of course. They don't really tell users how they prioritize reported bugs.
