Default Hanging indent problem for the wrapping text

Hi! I have a text with bullet points and an image that has the text wrapping set to 'through.' I'm trying to align the bullet points for the text around the image at the same distance as those in the original text, but I can't achieve it, even though the settings are correct. What can I do?

What you are describing is an old bug in Word. The indentation for bulleted or numbered paragraphs will be incorrect when the text wraps around an object.

Tks for your reply. Do you know any trick to align the text with the bullet, as previous?

A long-ish workaround that made it appear more normal:

1. select that image and temporarily change the text wrapping from "through" to "in line with text." Then back to "through." That, with your sample doc, did work for me for the bullet, but not the tab space after the bullet.

For that, I had to:

2. Highlight just the text that is to the right of the image. With your ruler showing, eyeball where you think the text should start in inches (or cm) and then go to your paragraph settings, and make your "hanging indent" that measurement. For me, with your example, I went with 4.3 inches.

The problem is, those settings will apply to the entire bulleted paragraph, so if the text extends past the image, you can't split the hanging indent up.

The simplest solution I found was just moving the image to align with the right margin instead of the left, and the text will wrap accordingly.

I'm sure you know, but I'm seeing two different line spacings on your sample page. The text above the bullet area is 1.08, and the bulleted portion is 1.5.

This may work, but setting paragraph indents set for numbered or bulleted paragraphs in the Paragraph dialog box often becomes lost, because the indentation reverts to the settings in the number/bullet list itself.

I don't have a better workaround, though. :-)

You can fake it by setting the Wrapping of the object to "In line with text" and put it in a two-column, single-row table, and manually add some text in the second cell. You will lose the flow of the text, of course.

The easiest way is to put the graphic on the Right instead of the Left. Anything else is such a pain that I wouldn't consider it.

That would be even more convenient, of course. :-)

Thank you both of you for the answer. I've thought also about the table solution, but I wanted to search a more simple solution. About aligning the image on the right, is not an option, because the document is longer than is in the sample I've uploaded and some images are on the right, others are in the left, so I can't apply the suggestion.
