Default Jumping around the doc from footnotes

Hi friends!

I get the feeling that Microsoft Word discriminates a little against footnotes.

I would like in a footnote to add a link to a different place in the document where I will continue the discussion of this footnote.
So I guess I would add a bookmark to where the continuation is and then insert a hyperlink in the first FN which would link to that bookmark. But it is not allowing me to insert hyperlinks in footnotes!

Sure there is a workaround but I don't know what it is.
Thank you in advance
Susan
