Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) in two parts ?
Lately I've re-installed my MSoffice365 edition beleaving I could cure some security problems with macros - I couldn't !
But I noticed another strange thing - my 'upper' part of the QAT-bar disappeared - I have had few command in the most upper part of the Word window to the left beside the icon, file name, application name - i have had SAVE, re-do and do-again ... now they are gone ! I still have my own defined QAT below the ribbon and I know I can insert some more commends there too - but my QAT-bar is NOT divided in 2 part - one part over and one part under the ribbon. Is that so by design or can it be divided again ? Last edited by ksor; 07-15-2023 at 03:43 AM. |

The QAT has NEVER been divided into two parts, despite appearances.
MS has played with putting certain commands, often contained in the QAT, into the Title Bar. The Title Bar is not modifiable through the user interface. I do not believe that it is modifiable through vba or XML, either. It is possible to put parts for the QAT in different templates and possible doing that to turn parts on and off. |

The fact is that the commands in the 'Title' bar is gone after re-install.
But that's like allways ... a new day a new anormaly with office programs |

You can enable the option at File > Options > General to "Show Save commands in the application header" if that helps (and if that option is available in your Word/Office installation).

Stefan, that is good to know.
My Office 2021 and Microsoft 365 do not have this option, yet. Version 2306. I use the keyboard shortcuts myself and keep undo in my QAT. |

Charles, the option should be there if the "visual refresh" has been enabled in Word/Office.

Ahh!
I keep that turned off except when I am trying toe answer a question about it. I really hate what it has done to the [Quick] Styles Gallery. |

They do read them and often take action. However, they seldom report back to the user.

It's not the 'report back' I'm missing ... it's the correction of the error ! There are lots of small stupid errors it would take minits to do - but it has no priority - instead new often useless changes are presented ... Going further down that road we are ending with a system build of workArounds on workArounds |
