Right-to-left TOC
I'm trying to create a template for a right-to-left language, with a toc that will be right-to-left as well (i.e. page numbers on the left side, chapter headings on the right). I started by changing the normal style to right to left. The TOC 1 style is based on normal, yet it's still left to right, and further, when I try to modify it's paragraph tab, it's set to left to right and it's faded and won't let me change it.
Any thoughts? Thanks! |

Change Normal back and change the TOC style.

A little confused about this.
1) I wanted normal to also be right to left, this whole document is using a right to left language. Should I not make the basic style (i.e. normal) right to left, instead of manually editing it all the time? 2) When I do what you said, the right to left radio button in the paragraph tab of TOC 1 is faded and I can't change it. |

The "rules" for style inheritance in Word mean that only those settings that haven't been explicitly modified in a "child" style will be inherited from the "parent" (based-on) style. Therefore, you may have to customize the TOC styles separately in this case.
