Macro footer formatting Doc A to Doc B then Headers
Hey there you guys! I SURE hope you can help me.
We have a bunch of older ISO certification documents - they use the old branding and I've been asked to update them. Problem is, there's like 600 documents. What i was hoping to do is create a macro that will update all of these. The parameters are as follows: Word Document A has a new header and footer with the proper formatting. For this example, we will reference the secondary doc as Word Document B Word Document B has old header and footer BUT the information from the header text needs to be retained. It's an ISO doc so there's a version, revised by, revision date etc that needs to be kept. In the new version in Word Doc A all of the information in the header of Word Doc B has been moved to the footer. So, what I would like to do is:
How do I go about this you guys? Is this a VBA thing or is this regular macro functionality that will work by just taking the time to map it all out in the recorded macro? I am so grateful for any direction or insight you can provide me!! Haven't done a macro in a reallllllllllllly long time. |

No of you amazing guru's have any insight on this here process? I'll keep researching. Considering I've only done macro's in Excel and Photoshop and that was forever ago, I could really use and would greatly appreciate some assistance. Looking at another post about this and will follow up if i make any progress. Thank you in advance for any direction you might provide.

Your question is confusing, to me. Are you changing Document A, Document B, or both?
Look into Styles. They are Word's method of conveying formatting. Copy the Header and Footer styles to copy formatting. Use the Organizer. The Importance of Styles in Microsoft Word |

We can definitely help you here but not without seeing example documents of the Before and After formatting you are seeking. If there is inconsistency across 600 documents then the macro needs to be able to deal with that and we don't know what any of that might be without seeing sample docs.
A macro can apply formatting to all the headers/footers in a document but the macro needs to know what it is going to encounter and what steps will be required for each scenario. If you wanted to post sample docs we can suggest code that would work. The sample docs don't need content other than header/footer contents so you can remove the body info if you wish to sanitise the samples you post.
