word - Sharepoint -working simultaneous
Hi everybody
I want to start with apologizing, English is not my native langues so I am sorry for any writing mistakes. I have the following question(s) I have a big word file for work, with the intension of working simultaneously with 3 our 4 people on it. In the document are checkboxes and textboxes and the text is protected so you can only fill in the checkboxes and forms. ( so I'm sure the text itself wouldn't be deleted). I have already found out due to the working together option ( witch is an important option) I can not use activeX checkboxes or visual basics. ( due to the autosave that must be on) Question 1: Is there a way to visually see when ( and maybe witch user) check a box ? Question 2: Is there a way to visually see how many of the boxes are checked ? ( some sort of progress in the document ? it would be nice if its possible to have more then one progress bar throughout the document - there are 12 big sections) Question 3: is there a way to go with a key combination or something to go to a specific page. like for example control + home but not to page 1 but I want to go to page 5 every time Hopefully my questions makes some sense ... again sorry for my terrible writing English. |

Question 3... You can write a macro or use a hyperlink. For a macro, you can assign a keyboard shortcut.
Other questions, not using SharePoint I do not know. General observation, require everyone to edit only in the desktop applications. Many features of Word do not work in the online version. |

thank you for the feedback.
working with macro's isn't possible with the autosave that needs to be on to work simultaneously. and working in the desktop version is automatically set in on the Sharepoint link because you loose a lot of functions indeed. |

You can set a bookmark for the location and use Ctrl+G to go to a bookmark, but will have extra steps.

Q1. When Sharepoint is set to multi-authoring, and two or more people are in the document you can see all the content and if someone makes a change to any paragraph (including a check box in a paragraph) then other users will see visually that that paragraph has been changed and it is locked. You won't be able to see that change until a) that person saves the files which writes their change to Sharepoint and then b) you save to write your changes to Sharepoint AND download the saved changes from others.
Q2. Only if everyone saves regularly. Q3. As Charles says, if you won't allow macros then you will need to use the GoTo command and pick the bookmark (or go to a specific page number).
