Word Crash on Quit

Often when I quit Word 2008 in the regular way after saving my document, the computer thinks the program crashed, does a recover document and asks to send MS a note about the incident.



Why does it do this, and is it a serious problem?

Did you try to run "Microsoft Office Diagnostics"? Its in the "Word options" section under "resources"

Ps, When asking/reporting this type question/report in which pertains to a possible crash or major problem, always try to give as much info as possible.

!:Program and major and minor version.
2:What OS are you using and version including service packs.
3:Error number or report.
3:What you doing when the crash or problem appeared.
4:Can you reproduce the error or crash.
5:What you have done to try and remedy it.

If the diagnostics reveals nothing, then check your hard disk for errors.
If this is the only program that is demonstrating this type of behavior then I would not worry about if your hard disk reveals no errors. It could be some other programs causing this glitch such as " Firewalls, Spyware detection tools, background optimization utilities such as "iolo System Mechanic memory optimization" or Norton Utilities, and there are many more examples."

With the price of computer hardware these days it never hurts to buy a external drive to back up all you data.
