Clause Changes Based on Heading Change
Hello,
I am working on a legal document and was wondering if the below is possible - as I am trying to automate the document as much as possible. The current set up is a long series of sections that are collapsable as they are headered. In the beginning of the document there is a section we have some verbiage that has "Clause 20.1" referenced down further in the document. When our team goes through the document some of the sections need to be deleted based on the circumstances; so by the time it's all said and done that Clause 20.1 reference is no longer 20.1. It may be 17.1, 16.1, 19.1 depending on what's been deleted. Is it possible to automatically change the words stating "Clause 20.1" based on what headers are deleted at the bottom of the document? Thanks for the help! |

This is done using the feature called Cross References. You can find resources online to teach you how to use this. Here is a starting point Create a cross-reference - Microsoft Support
