Default Word Outline view only uses less than a third of my screen

I use word outline function to hold and sort data and never expect to print it, I just want to see it on the screen. I am astounded that there does not seem to be a way to get it to use the whole screen to the right. The stupid thing wraps the text at less than a third of the way across the screen! Ridiculous! I paste VBA code in under headings to save and sort it for future use, and I'd like to be able to see it on the screen instead of wrapping it's way right out of sight off the bottom of the screen. Why will Microsoft not let me use my whole screen?

"I use word outline function to hold and sort data...."
You mean the Outline View?
That could be a legacy thing or a design thing.
As a design, readability for wide lines gets worse the wider the text goes.
Is it disappointingly narrow? Yes.
Use a MS Feedback channel. Unfortunately, Word does not get the attention of Excel and may be more difficult to get changed.

Word > Options > Advanced > Show document content
Check the box to show text wrapped within the document window.
(This changes the draft and outline views.)

I do not prefer to use this because wider lines are harder to read, for me, anyway.
Here is my page on outlining in case it is of interest:

This is not the place to communicate your understandable frustration with Microsoft. They will never see it. Instead, use the Feedback mechanism. Send Feedback to MS Developers Send a frown and as many details as you care to share with them. They will see that.
Note, this is not the place to get any changes made in Word nor the attention of developers at Microsoft. This is an independent user-to-user support forum. MS does not see anything you post here. The way to get their attention is through the feedback mechanisms.
My personal preference is to use the Word Feedback Portal. If you do, please get a share link and post it here so that others seeing this thread can go there and vote and comment. While you are there, check for other posts and feel free to vote and comment on those as well!

Well, that option is clear as mud.

Thanks Charles for knowing and pointing it out.

The setting applies to both Draft and Outline views.
