Default Spell Check/Editor

Hello all,

This is about the Spell Check function in my MS Word (Home & Student, 2019, laptop); I used to just go to Review and choose Spelling and Grammar and the sidebar would appear and check the spelling in that current document.

Now I have this thing called "Editor" -- which I have no idea how it got onto my version of Word (updates?); I still get the spelling checked when I click Spelling and Grammar but that weird Editor sidebar pops up.

How can I get rid of that Editor thing and just go back to the normal Spell Check?

Thanks

See Classic Spell Check Dialog - Macro or Add-In to use classic dialog rather than Editor.
If the Microsoft site is down, here is the equivalent on my website: Spell Check Dialog Instead of Editor

Thanks. I don't know if I can do that, to be honest, seems rather complicated. There's no easier way to dump the Editor and get the earlier Spell Check back, eh?

There are links on those pages on how to use macros you find on forums. It is not that difficult and will open up all sorts of possibilities for you in the future.

You can download my free Add-In that has the macro.
Legacy Spell Check Dialog

You put it in your Word Startup Folder. It is as simple as that. To remove it, take it out of that folder.

There is no other way.
Well, you could try to roll back your updates, I suppose.

That blocks any future bug fixes.
